OSU Institute of Technology Heavy Equipment and Vehicle Institute

Kirby-Smith and Komatsu have partnered with the OSU Institute of Technology Heavy Equipment and Vehicle Institute (HEVI) to develop and sponsor the most comprehensive technical 2 year college associate programs for heavy equipment technicians in North America.

Equipment Training Options

  • Komatsu Construction Equipment
  • Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess a high school diploma and a valid driver's license
  • Must meet OSU-Okmulgee admission requirements

Komatsu Certified Training Center

Kirby-Smith Machinery is one of four Komatsu Certified Training Centers in North America. We train and certify 100 industry technicians internally each year. We focus on system and machine maintenance, general safety, customer training, diagnostics, diesel engines, and forklift operator safety training.



Kirby-Smith Machinery’s most valuable asset is the 200+ employees that service the construction and crane industry. In an effort to provide superior service to our customers, Kirby-Smith Machinery developed its own internal award program- The Guild Program. The Guild was designed with the goal of promoting continuing education in our service and parts departments to ensure that Kirby-Smith Parts and Service Employees are continually among the best and brightest in the industry.
