• Redesigned engine for power and efficiency: Next generation Komatsu DBA127 engine is compliant with U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emissions. Redesigned with many advancements, including proprietary technology to eliminate exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). This engine is designed for lower fuel consumption, and more power and torque at lower engine speeds.
• Comfortable operator cab: Pressurized, large cab designed to provide a quiet environment with a new intuitive console design. Visibility is increased by 21% with more glass area than the previous model. Five-way adjustable console and integrated switch, window roll curtain, electric heated side mirrors and more make this an efficient work environment.
• Komatsu Hydraulic Mechanical Transmission (KHMT): Designed for high efficiency with a continuously variable transmission. The combination of HST and mechanical transmission in a dual power path delivers excellent controllability and high transmission efficiency while promoting low fuel consumption. Dynamic transmission braking eliminates a separate brake cooling system.
• Yard loader (YL) option: Best for quarry and aggregate applications, the YL configuration is designed as a 3-pass match option for loading aggregate and other materials into on-highway trucks. This configuration includes heavier counterweight, wide low-profile tires and rims, reinforced frame and optimized bucket size for quarry work.
• Reduced maintenance cost: Compared to the previous model, you may realize up to a 21% average reduction in maintenance costs. This is chiefly due to extended intervals for hydraulic and oil filter changes, as well as lengthening the time needed between KDPF cleanings.
• Angle feedback joystick steering (AFJS): With AFJS, the vehicle body articulates based on the tilt angle of the joystick. This technology converts joystick operation into electrical signals, delivering a smooth feel with less operating force for reduced wrist strain. Operators can adjust this low-effort drive-by-wire system. A steering wheel option is still available.
• Independent work equipment levers: The work equipment speed can be controlled with levers. The engine speed is automatically optimized based on lever operation without pressing an accelerator pedal. Separating the transmission control from work equipment simplifies operations with less brake wear during hopper or truck loading.
• Standard rear object detection: Dual rear-side radars help detect objects and working machines as they approach the direction of travel while reversing the machine. A warning buzzer and indicator light alert the operator of a potential collision. This system also features false detection technology to help maintain uptime while promoting zero harm.
• Bucket designed for productivity: The bucket's cross-sectional shape is intended for digging efficiency with material scooped and rolled up along the inclined floor of the bucket. Combining this redesigned bucket and the auto digging system helps boost productivity and is especially beneficial for newer operators on your crew.
