Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. Kansas City Branch Hosts Breast Cancer Awareness “Diggin’ for a Cure” Community Fundraising Event

Kansas City, July 29, 2019 - Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc.  (KSM) recently teamed up with Link-Belt Excavators for a community fundraising event benefiting Breast Cancer Awareness and Susan G. Komen Kansas & Western Missouri. The team at KSM presented a $2,000 check to the nonprofit, along with nearly 100 hand-written notes of encouragement for patients undergoing breast cancer treatment. Susan G. Komen Kansas & Western Missouri will distribute the notes to treatment centers throughout the Kansas City metro area.

“Family is a core tenant of KSM and big part of our culture here in Kansas City and across all KSM locations,” said Tim Yauilla, Kansas City branch manager for Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. “KSM employees and their families always enjoy getting involved in the Kansas City community and we were honored to help fundraise and increase awareness for breast cancer awareness among our community.”

Local race car driver and 2018 POWRi National Midget Champion Tucker Klaasmeyer was also in attendance at the event. He provided autographs and auctioned off a custom pink helmet. The proceeds from the auction support the local Susan G. Komen Kansas & Western Missouri branch and community members.

“I’m excited and honored to have been a part of the “Diggin’ for a Cure” event put on by Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. and Link-Belt Excavators,” said Klaasmeyer. “Having been influenced by many incredible women in my life, their health and wellbeing is truly important to me. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in the United States and I’m proud to help take action against that statistic.”

The event was co-sponsored by Link-Belt Excavators as part of their national “Pink-Belt” Tour and the unique Pink Link-Belt model was on onsite during the event.
